  • The Research Network for Latin America invites you to the exposition "Soziale Bewegungen in Lateinamerika" (Social Movements in Latinamerika). The exposition was realized thanks to the cooperation of Prof. Dr. Mirta Lobato from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, staff from the department of iberian and latinamerican history and the Research Network for Latin America.
    The exposition is not only designed to provide an insight into the multitude and diversity of social movements in Latin America, but also to present the pictures of our research to the wide public.
    You find the pictures until christmas in the rooms of the Prüfungsamt der Philosophischen Fakultät at the University of Cologne.

  • The Research Network for Latin America invites to the following workshop:
    "Viewing Ethnicity, Citizenship and Belonging from the Perspective of Migration"
    November, the 17th and 18th, 2015 in Bonn
    This Workshop is organised by the sub-project Bonn with the objective to encourage exchange of the use of the network’s key terms between academics and practitioners. The main question will be how these actors use these terms in the context of migration. The flyer and programm you find here.

  • The Research Network invites everybody to a public lecture by Alejandro Grimson (Universidad Nacional de San Martín) "Los conceptos de frame y configuración en los estudios migratorios en el Cono Sur", taking place in room 0.012 at the University of Cologne (Philosophikum) on Wednesday, July 8th, 2015 from 5.45 until 6.15 pm.

  • The Research Network for Latin America realises, together with the "Welthaus Bielefeld" and the Center for InterAmerican Studies of the University of Bielefeld, a workshop called "Globales Lernen im Englischunterricht: Konzeptionelle Überlegungen und praktische Umsetzungen in Bildungsmaterialien" at the Welthaus Bielefeld on June 25th, 2015.   • The sub-projects Cologne, Hanover and Münster organised the event "Sauerkraut und Samba. Zum Umgang mit Stereotypen im Globalen Lernen und Interkulturellen Training" taking place in Münster from April 17th to 18th, 2015.   • The Research Network for Latin America has invited Dr. Natalia Molina (UC San Diego) and Dr. Valeria Coronel (FLACSO Quito, Ecuador) as research fellows for the month of April (see lectures).

  • A short report about the participation at the symposium "De/Colonization in Americas: Continuity and Change" is online.

  • Within the framework of the symposium "De/Colonization in the Americas: Conitnuity and Change" serveral interviews have been produced in cooperation with Radio IDEELE of the Instituto de Defensa Legal that have been broadcasted live or recorded by the Radio Station San Borja, Lima, Peru. The audios are available on our website.

  • For Monday, May 4th, 2015 the Research Network for Latin America has invited Margott Paucar Espinoza (Universidad Científica del Sur, Peru) to give a lecture entitled "El Discurso Político en la Memoria Socio-Histórica en el Perú".   • From November 17th until November 21st, 2014, the Days of education - global learning (Bildungstage - Globales Lernen) are taking place in Hannover. On two days Daniela Célleri of the Research Network for Latina America is organising a workshop. Click here for further information.

  • On September 19th, 2014, the Workshop "Actualizando la ciudadanía", realized by Lara Jüssen of the sub-project Bonn, will take place at the UAM in Madrid. The aim is to create a place at which scientists and activists discuss about the concepts Citizenship, Beloning, Ethnicity etc. and debate about potentially different perspectives.   • The Research Network for Latin America organises, together with the Faculty of Law of the Pontifica Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), a panel titled "La evolución y el impacto de la irrupción de comunidades originarias en los sistemas jurídicos de América Latina" at the conference “De/Colonization in Americas: Continuity and Change” taking place from August 06th until August 08, 2014.

  • The members of the Research Network Dr. Sarah Albiez-Wieck und Dr. Tobias Schwarz are part of the new UoC Forum "Ethnicity as a Political Resource", realized within the framework of the German Excellence Initiative.

  • Within the frame of the American Anthropologist Colloquium and in cooperation with the Research Network for Latin America Ernesto de la Jara and David Lovatón of the Instituto de Defensa Legal will talk about “Theory and realization of the right of consultation” of indigenous people in Peru.
    The Colloquium will take place at the Department for Amercian Anthropolgy at the University of Bonn (Oxfordstr. 15) on May 14th at 6 p.m.  -  Everybody is welcome!

  • On June 16th, 2012, from 9.00am until 3.30pm an internal workshop about "Ethnicity in Africa and Latin America" will take place together with members from the Cologne African Studies Centre (CASC) in Godesberger Str. 10, Köln-Marienburg.   • In August 2011 a Memorandum of Unterstanding was signed in Ecuador with the Department of History of the Universidad Andina de Simón Bolívar, Quito (UASB).
  • Recently, within the framework of the cooperation between the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social (CIESAS)-Guadalajara and the Research Network for Latin America, online confereces have been realized. On May 30th about “Migración”, on June 06 about “Nación, estado y cuidadanía” and on July 4th about “Etnicidad y desigualdad”.  These conferences were held to have an exchange of current results of investigation. There are three subsequent conferences planned to be realized. On August 18th about “Migración” and on September 5th about “Etnicidad y desigualdad”. The second conference about “Nación, estado y ciudadanía” will take place in the second half of August.
