- Livestock-farming and agriculture as well as the cultivation
- of quinoa and potatoes are important sources of income. Minerals like borax and salt can also be named as central resources in the region.
- Preparations for the ritual dedicated to Pachamama on Easter Sunday. People will sacrifice salt, vegetables and water among others.
- The Quechua-speaking population is gathering around a huge fireplace and subsequently the k'owa is going to be burnt. This ceremony is a way to thank for sufficient rain this year.
- The women carry their children on their backs - the rate of infant mortality in this area is one of the highest in Bolivia.
- Travelling in this region is quite exhausting. People often tell me that they feel isolated and slightly neglected.
- For the tourists the sightseeing of the fascinating salt lake is especially challenging during this season because the water is still accumulating at the edges.
